Privacy Matters

Privacy Matters is a credit management and identity theft protection program that provides members with tools and information resources to help them easily monitor their credit information for potential signs of identity theft and fraud.

Privacy Matters membership

Privacy Matters members receive a personal membership ID number, information about their benefits, details on how to access them, and a confirmation of the membership terms they agreed to when they enrolled. Membership lasts from the time of enrollment until the time a member informs us, either by e-mail or a phone cal, that he or she wishes to cancel. AP9 Privacy Matters and IK9 Privacy Matters members can contact us any time, either by a toll-free number or through our Customer Care Center, if they have questions about the program. We are committed to resolving any concerns quickly and in a satisfactory way.

We have always maintained the highest standards of responsible corporate practice and utilize rigorous quality controls to ensure our practices meet or exceed industry standards and applicable law. Privacy Matters members benefit from our own National Best Marketing Practices, which, in summary:

  • Offer a "no-questions-asked" refund policy for complaints about unauthorized charges. We promptly provide a refund for a member who is charged a fee by AP9 Privacy Matters or IK9 Privacy Matters but claims they didn't authorize it.

  • Provide for full disclosure of billing and cancellation/refund terms and of membership benefits. We obtain and verify members' express and unambiguous consent to Privacy Matters program charges.
We are proud that the framework of our National Best Marketing Practices was adopted by the Electronic Retailing Association for their industry's Advanced Consent Marketing Guidelines, which have been commended by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). On March 31, 2003, the FTC issued a revised Telemarketing Sales Rule which essentially adopted our Best Marketing Practices provisions and made them federal law.

We fully comply with all federal and state privacy laws and regulations that apply to processing online financial transactions. Privacy Matters partners with trusted, well-known companies to help all our program members avoid online scams. We value the trust members place in us by enrolling in AP9 Privacy Matters, IK9 Privacy Matters and we're committed to protecting members' personal privacy and the confidentiality of their financial information.

Privacy Matters -- Privacy and Security Policy

Under our Privacy and Security Policy, we:

  • Collect from members only the personally identifiable information they expressly provide when they enroll in Privacy Matters, and a unique identifier we use to confirm billing and sales information.

  • Collect technical information, such as browser type or an IP address, relating to a member automatically when he or she visits the Privacy Matters website.

  • Protect the security of an AP9 Privacy Matters or IK9 Privacy Matters member's information by using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption during online transmission.

  • Meet the stringent requirements of Verisign's security seal for online transactions.
Adaptive Marketing LLC® also created, in August 2001, a Consumer Advisory Board to help with the continuous improvement of our customer service and marketing practices. Included as Board members are a former State Attorney General and several well-known consumer advocates.
